Still here and waiting some more

I know it's been a while.  I just thought I would share that we're still waiting to get P's amended birth certificate.  We were told it would take 16 weeks from finalization which seemed an inordinate amount of time at that moment.  How naive we were.  We aren't at 16 weeks quite yet, but DH went to the state office to check on the status of the birth certificate.  He figured it might be ready and if not he'd have a better idea of when it would be.  He was told not to bother checking back until at least another two months have passed. And that it probably wouldn't be ready then because they were short-staffed and swamped.  So sorry.  Next in line.

Ugh.  I love bureaucracy.

I'm sorry you're still waiting for it -- that's SO frustrating! I hope it ends up showing up a lot sooner than they said.

I hope everything else is going well with you!

It is so difficult waiting, isn't it??? Hey, I found your blog through a mutual friend's. Just wanted to stop in and say hi! I hope you don't have to wait too much longer. :)

I couldn't believe that friggin' hell and COST we had to go through to get Lil Pumpkin a birth certificate issued by our county. The irony is that it's not required but makes life easier for things like school registration that presenting a bunch of adoption documents, half of which are in Chinese. And I had to submit everything in person and make another trip downtown (add daytime parking each time) to pick up.

But with Peanut? A simple form in the hospital and it arrived in the mail at my home within 10 days.

Ridiculous.

It took almost a year for our first adoption, about 6-8 months on our 2nd, and our 3rd was finalized in November and just received the paperwork for the new birth certificate, so was shocked that we may actually get it in the next couple months.
